Lower Saucon Teen Earns Rank of Eagle Scout

Benjamin J. Szydlow, a member of Boy Scout Troop #364 in Coopersburg and a resident of Saucon Valley, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank the Boy Scouts offers.

A Lower Saucon Township teenager has earned the most prestigious rank in Scouting.

Benjamin “Ben” Szydlow, 17, is a senior at Saucon Valley High School.

Benjamin J. Szydlow, a member of Boy Scout Troop #364 in Coopersburg and a resident of Saucon Valley, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank the Boy Scouts offer. Only 3 to 4 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain the Eagle Scout ranking.

Ben, 17, who is a senior at Saucon Valley High School, achieved the 21 merit badges required to receive the Eagle Scout award.

For his final project he supported the animal rescue and care needs of Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, where he built a goat playground and rooster coop.

A ceremony honoring Ben and his achievement took place Sunday at the Wildlands Conservancy’s Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus. Family and friends were in attendance.

Ben is the son of Ken and Lisa Szydlow.
