Route 412 Park-and-Ride Lot Will Close Due to Construction

Finding a parking spot at the Route 412 Park-and-Ride lot near Hellertown is about to get tougher.

PennDOT announced late last week that one of two lots at the Park-and-Ride near I-78 will be closed for construction work beginning Tuesday, and remain closed until June 30, 2015.

The closure of the southern lot, which is behind Wendy’s along Silvex Road, is related to the ongoing Route 412 widening project, PennDOT announced.

“The larger northern lot will remain open,” and motorists who rely on Park-and-Ride facilities should also consider using the William Penn Highway Park-and-Ride facility off Route 33, PennDOT said.

The Route 412 project began in March 2012 and has had a major impact on traffic in the Hellertown area since that time.

“The majority of the PA 412 construction is expected to be complete in late 2015 with the overall project expected to be complete in 2016,” PennDOT stated.
