Bernardo, who has been at the helm of the middle school since 2005, received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Eastern Connecticut State University; a Master of Science in elementary education from the State University of New York at New Paltz; and her K-12 Principal Certification from Penn State-Great Valley. She also has a superintendent’s letter of eligibility from Arcadia University, according to PAESSP.

Prior to becoming a principal at Saucon Valley, she was an elementary and middle school K-8 assistant principal from 2000 to 2005. Prior to that, she taught in the Southern York County and Central Bucks school districts.

“Pamela embodies what you look for in a middle school principal,” PAESSP President Dr. William T. Ziegler said. “As one of her teachers shared, ‘Ms. Bernardo makes decisions based on what’s best for students.’ She understands that her role is to serve students and to give every child an opportunity to succeed.”

According to the newsletter, Bernardo was also an adjunct professor at Gratz College and has presented professionally at numerous national and state education conferences, including the 2014 PAESSP State Conference.

Saucon Valley Middle School has approximately 763 students in grades 5 through 8.
