Hellertown Cats Need Homes for the Holidays

A Hellertown cat adoption organization–Aunt Helen’s Cats in Need–is hoping to find homes for a number of adult cats and kittens before Christmas.

According to the organization’s Facebook page, “Aunt Helen’s provides stray and feral cats and kittens with health care, and safe and loving foster homes until forever homes are found. Our goal is adoption.”

Many of the cats are currently sheltered at Carol’s Grooming, 1747 Williams St., Hellertown, where they can be seen by appointment, volunteer Carolann Dos Santos said.

The cats who need placement have been brought in as a result of an ongoing trap-neuter-release (TNR) program, which is focused on bringing the borough’s stray cat population under control.

The TNR program was developed by No Nonsense Neutering of Allentown, which worked with the borough to implement it in Hellertown a couple of years ago.

In addition to home placements, Aunt Helen’s is hoping to connect with area farms that would be willing to accept some displaced felines.

All of the cats that need to be adopted are up to date on vaccinations and neutered/spayed.
