Mom Was Drunk at Liquor Shop, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say an upper Bucks County woman was charged with public drunkenness after she allegedly blew a .11 BAC (blood alcohol concentration) on a breathalyzer test at the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Leithsville Road earlier this month.

Police said they administered the breath test to Toni Moran, 38, of the 3200 block of Funks Mill Road, Springfield Township, after they were summoned to the Wine and Spirits store in the shopping center for a report of “an intoxicated female with her daughter” on Jan. 2.

When an officer arrived, he found Moran and her daughter in a nearby Chinese restaurant, according to the news release.

Moran then allegedly admitted to taking several different medications that aren’t supposed to be combined with alcohol, including Soma, Valium, Oxycodone and Diazepam.

Police said they were able to arrange a ride for Moran and her eight-year-old daughter, and added that Northampton County Children & Youth Services was notified about the alleged incident.

Police didn’t specify how Moran arrived at the shopping center in the first place.

According to Section 5505 of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, which defines public drunkenness, “a person is guilty of a summary offense if he appears in any public place manifestly under the influence of alcohol to the degree that he may endanger himself or other persons or property, or annoy persons in
his vicinity.”
