Lower Saucon Township Police said Sunday that two drivers were cited for alleged motor vehicle violations following separate accidents during Friday’s snowstorm.
In the first accident, police said Sydney Duffy, 18, of Bethlehem Township, was eastbound on Mountain Drive North at 11:38 a.m. and traveling behind a car driven by a 59-year-old Hanover Township, Northampton County woman.
Duffy slowed as her car got closer to the other vehicle, but “then began to slide on the snow-covered road,” police said.
Duffy’s car struck the rear of the car in front of her and then “went off into an embankment across the roadway,” authorities added.
Nobody was injured in the accident, but Duffy was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, police said.
In the second accident, which police said happened at 1:55 p.m., Kimberly Sandercock, 55, of Lower Saucon, was eastbound on Saucon Valley Road when she tried to stop at the stop sign at Bingen Road.
Instead of stopping, police said she “slid through the intersection” and crashed into a car driven by a 47-year-old township woman.
There were no injuries reported but the air bags in both cars deployed and both vehicles were towed from the scene by Saucon Collision, police said.
Sandercock would be cited for failing to stop at the stop sign, the news release said.
