A 20-year-old man from Connecticut was the only apprehended member of a group of individuals that shot off fireworks on property near the Bethlehem Star atop South Mountain Thursday night, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Friday.

According to police, an officer responded to the area of the star at around 10:40 p.m., because he believed he heard shots being fired in the woods.

Instead, he found four people at the star, all of whom “took off running” upon his arrival, the news release indicated.

William Fatherstone, 20, of the 400 block of Main Street, Old Saybrook, Conn., was apprehended, and he “confirmed they were lighting off fireworks–not firing guns,” police said.

In addition to a citation for trespassing, police said Fatherstone was cited for underage drinking, after a breathalyzer test allegedly confirmed that he had consumed alcohol.
