What’s Your Least Favorite Area Highway? (POLL)

Est. Read Time: < 1 min

The Lehigh Valley is criss-crossed by a complex web of highways that help us get where we want to be and contribute to the region’s economic vitality, but sometimes–because of accidents and traffic jams–these roads can seem more like “highways to hell.”

Last week two Kentucky residents–who authorities have not yet identified–were killed when the tractor-trailer they were riding in struck an overpass on Interstate 78 in Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County.

The fiery crash closed the interstate in both directions for hours, snarling traffic.

According to the Express-Times–which subsequently asked its readers to ID the most dangerous spots on Interstate 78–there have been a total of eight fatal crashes on I-78 in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey since Jan. 1, 2015.

For many Saucon Valley residents, I-78 is literally in their backyards, meaning it also generates noise and pollution with the potential to affect their quality of life.

Routes 22, 33 and 309 are also within close proximity to the Hellertown area, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Northeast Extension is a popular route for commuters to Philadelphia and travelers to points south.

Depending on where you work, you may even have to drive more than one of these highways multiple days per week.

If you find yourself in that position, which highway do you most often try to avoid?

And regardless of where you live or what you do, tell us: Which is your LEAST favorite area highway, and why? Please post comments and vote in the poll below.

What's your least favorite highway in the greater Lehigh Valley area?
