The coupons are worth a total of $20 and are available to county residents age 60 or older who meet the following income requirements:

  • Single – Income less than $21,775 per year
  • Married Couple – Income less than $29,471 per year

In the case of married couples, both spouses may obtain coupons.

Proof of age and residency is required from anyone who requests the coupons, which are being distributed at locations throughout the county this month.

In Hellertown, they will be distributed at the senior center at the Saucon Valley Community Center, 323 Northampton St., on Tuesday, June 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.

The coupons can only be used at state-registered farmers markets, and cannot be redeemed in supermarkets.

Locally they can be redeemed at Bechdolt Orchards and Pappy’s Orchard, which have booths at the weekly Saucon Valley Farmers’ Market in Hellertown.

The market is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the Hellertown Area Library, 409 Constitution Ave., Hellertown, through the end of November.

The vouchers are also available for pickup at the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging, 2801 Emrick Blvd., Bethlehem, on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. through Sept. 30, 2015 or until supplies are exhausted.

More information about the program as well as a proxy form that can be used to obtain coupons for another person are available online.
