A Lower Saucon Township man is facing a variety of charges after police say he admitted to putting Klonopin–a prescription drug used to treat anxiety–in his 2-year-old daughter’s cereal bowl, according to published media reports that cite Northampton County court records.

Joseph Wilson, 26, of the 1900 block of Leithsville Road, was arrested Sunday after police said they found him passed out in his apartment while his toddler sat crying and unattended in a stroller, an article published by the Express-Times indicated.

When police arrived, a friend of Wilson’s was trying to rouse him from unconsciousness by slapping him and Wilson later admitted to snorting lines of Klonopin with his friend, the article stated.

According to an article published by The Morning Call, Wilson was also administered a breathalyzer test which allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .15 percent.

Police said a nearly empty vodka bottle and drug pipes were found within reach of the 2-year-old, that article also stated.

Wilson has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, and he was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail, the articles indicated.

The cereal bowl was seized as evidence and the Northampton County Children, Youth and Families division of social services was also contacted, both stories said.
