A Hellertown man was charged with DUI after Lower Saucon Township Police say a blood test showed he was under the influence of marijuana while driving Aug. 24.

In a news release issued Monday, police said Anh Nguyen, 20, of the 300 block of E. High Street, was also charged with possession after he was stopped for an alleged traffic violation at Leithsville Road and Gail Lane shortly after 1 a.m.

At that time, police said an officer smelled marijuana in his vehicle and located two “roaches,” which allegedly field-tested positive for marijuana.

After Nguyen failed field sobriety tests, police said he “was taken for further drug recognition testing and it was determined he needed a blood test to show he was under the influence of a narcotic.”

“Anh submitted to a blood test and it was confirmed that Anh was under the influence of marijuana while operating a motor vehicle,” police added.
