Joyce A. Benner, 88, of Lower Saucon Township died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.benner.newspaper1 She was the wife of Richard O. Benner Sr. Joyce was born in Lower Saucon Township on Jan. 21, 1927 to the late William H. and Miriam S. (Leidich) Bechdolt. She had worked in the financial aid office of Moravian College for several years. Joyce was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and a graduate of Bethlehem Business College as a stenographer.

SURVIVORS

In addition to her loving husband of 67 years; children: Dennis E. Benner of Center Valley, David T. (Joan E.) Benner of Bethlehem, Kathleen “Kathy” M. Barth of Bethlehem; daughter-in-law: Deanna Benner of Lower Saucon Township; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her beloved cat: Meggie. She was predeceased by children: Richard O. Jr., Eileen M. Landis and Bruce M. Benner; and siblings: John R., Donald E., William R. and Charles F. Bechdolt.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015 and from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour Friday will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at her church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, PA. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
