As part of an enforcement initiative, Buckle-Up PA, 23 motorists received citations for speeding in Lower Saucon Township earlier this week, township police said in a news release Wednesday.
“Lower Saucon Township Police joined more than 350 other law enforcement agencies and the Pennsylvania State Police in an effort to increase seat belt use and reduce the number of unbelted injuries and deaths,” police said.
According to the news release, as part of the enforcement effort two motorists also received citations for red light violations, two received citations for driving unregistered vehicles, one was cited for a high-beam violation, one was cited for driving an uninspected vehicle, one was cited for a seat belt violation, one was cited for disobedience to traffic control devices, and six were issued slips for driving with faulty equipment.
Police said the enforcement effort in Lower Saucon was partly funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s statewide distribution of $3.5 million in federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds.
