The Saucon Valley High School band and chorus returned from a trip to Florida Wednesday, during which they performed at Disneyworld.
The chorus performed Saturday, Nov. 28 at the EPCOT Center’s Candlelight Processional, which presents visitors with “theĀ stirring story of Christmas as told by a celebrity narrator, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and mass choir,” according to the Disneyworld website.
“Along with students from other schools, adult choirs, Disney’s Voices of Liberty, a 50-piece orchestra, and guest narrator Gary Sinise, they retold the Christmas story in words and song,” Saucon Valley resident and attendee Jenn Korin reported.
The Saucon Valley High School marching band performed the pre-show for the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Disney on Sunday, Nov. 29.
Korin said the band played holiday music as they marched in front of Cinderella’s Castle and down the Magic Kingdom’s famed Main Street, USA.
The concert band later performed at Disney Springs–a themed retail, dining and entertainment center–and both the chorus and band participated in seminars through Disney Performing Arts.
“The seminars gave them a backstage look into the music of the Disney movies and parks,” Korin said.
In spite of the fact that they were more than a thousand miles from home, the band stayed connected with Saucon Valley by cheering remotely for the football team during its PIAA first round game vs. Scranton Prep last Friday, she added.
