The Saucon Valley varsity football team is currently busy preparing for the biggest game in their history, which is why many local fans want to send them off with cheers as they depart Hellertown for the Bethlehem Area School District Stadium Friday.
The team is scheduled to leave the school district campus on buses at around 4:30 p.m., and it’s been confirmed that they will travel to Liberty High School in Bethlehem via Walnut Street and Main Street (Rt. 412 North).
Residents and people who work along the route are welcome to stand outside to wish the team luck as their convoy passes by.
Mild weather is forecast for Friday, with a high in the upper 50s expected.
A big crowd of hometown supporters is expected to form at the stadium by the 7 p.m. kickoff.
But for those who won’t be able to make it, there will be viewing options on local TV.
RCN plans to broadcast the game vs. Imhotep Charter live on Channel 4, and Service Electric will air it live on its Channel 50 and Channel 550 HD.
Saucon Valley has never before advanced into the PIAA state football playoffs–let alone the semifinals round.
In recent weeks football fever has taken a strong hold over Hellertown, where several groups have been selling red and black bows to decorate homes and businesses and also raise funds for youth sports.

A local deli–the Hellertown Lunch Box on Main Street–has even created two sandwiches to celebrate the occasion: the Panther and the Heavenly Hog, which is named after the “Hogs.”
Advance tickets for Friday’s game–which are $8 for adults and $4 for students–can be purchased at the Saucon Valley High School Athletic Office until Friday.
All tickets sold at the stadium gates will be $8.
