A Beef and Beer Bash at Dewey Fire Co. Banquet Hall in Hellertown March 12 will benefit a local boy who has periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), a type of brain injury that occurred before birth that will lead to a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, according to organizers.

Owen, who turns 2 on the day of the benefit, is the son of a Dewey Ambulance paramedic. He also has spastic diplegia, which affects his ability to walk, run and play, according to a fundraiser flyer.

Owen’s family plans to travel to St. Louis for a special type of surgery he will be eligible to receive after his second birthday.

The proceeds from the fundraiser will supplement his family’s travel costs and other expenses related to the trip.

Owen’s Birthday Beef and Beer Bash will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. and will feature music by DJ Slick Vic, silent auctions and a menu that includes hot roast beef sandwiches, potato salad, beer, soda and snacks. A cash bar will also be available.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance by calling 610-882-2066 or 215-399-7305.

Sponsors are still needed for silent auction baskets, and donors are needed to help fund the event.

To make a donation or sponsor a basket, please call Vic Koszi at 610-882-2066 or email
