According to a Saucon Valley Athletic Department news release, Evancho was recently selected as one of 150 nationwide Double-Goal Coach Award Finalists, and one of only three finalists from Pennsylvania.

“Double-Goal Coach Finalists are recognized as coaches who are highly influential in their players’ lives, are outstanding leaders, excel in teaching their players life lessons such as character, respect and integrity, and improve their players’ skills while enjoying the game that they play,” the news release from Saucon Valley Athletic Director Bob Frey said. “The Saucon Valley Athletic Department congratulates Coach Matt Evancho on this outstanding honor and would like to thank Matt once again for guiding our student-athletes in an honorable way both on and off the field.”

Evancho stepped down as head football coach in December, after leading the Panthers to a 15-1 record, a district title and the PIAA AAA semifinals.

Coach Phil Sams has been named his successor.
