The death of a woman in Lower Saucon Township’s Society Hill development in February was fire-related and accidental, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said Tuesday, according to numerous published media reports.

Lysek determined that Eleanor Loughran, 68, of the 1800 block of Mansfield Street died Feb. 18 from a combination of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide toxicity, Lehigh Valley Live reported.

Her body was found when firefighters responded to a report of a blaze at her home, but the fire had already extinguished itself, the newspaper article noted.

At the time of the discovery authorities noted that a burned chair was among the evidence at the scene.

The lengthy investigation into Loughran’s death combined with the unusual circumstances surrounding her death put many neighbors in the upscale residential community on edge.

Assisting in the response and investigation into Loughran’s death were the Lower Saucon Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police and Se-Wy-Co Fire Co.
