The driver of a car who Lower Saucon Township Police say caused an accident on Rt. 378 Saturday afternoon has been cited for careless driving and driving on a suspended license, police said in a news release Monday.

According to police, Bibiana Soto, of the 1600 block of E. Emaus Ave., Allentown, was southbound shortly after 5 p.m. when she allegedly rear-ended a vehicle driven by a Bethlehem man that was stopped in traffic backed up from the light at Black River Road.

The collision “threw” the Bethlehem man’s car off the road and down an embankment, where it came to rest in the north parking lot at Keystone Auto, police said, while Soto’s car rolled over and then slid on its roof for 275 feet.

Soto’s car came to rest at the southbound entrance to Exxon, 3655 Rt. 378, which is on the opposite (northbound) side of the road, police said.

A Bethlehem woman who was a passenger in the vehicle that was struck was taken to a hospital for evaluation and both vehicles were towed from the scene, police added.
