Lower Saucon Township Police were kept busy Thursday morning responding to accidents at the intersection of Rt. 378 and Walter Street.

According to police news releases, the first accident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. when Brian George Morykan, of the 100 block of W. Clark Street, Hellertown, ran over a speed limit sign and drove over a guide rail.

Police said Morykan–who allegedly fell asleep at the wheel–was uninjured, but his 2005 Dodge Dakota had to be towed from the scene.

Just 15 minutes later, at about 7 a.m., police said another accident that was witnessed by officers occurred at the same location.

In the second crash, police said Jared J. Knauss, of the 700 block of Sixth Avenue, Bethlehem, “was distracted while driving and struck a stopped vehicle in front of him.”

Both Knauss and Morykan will be cited for careless driving, police said.
