David O. Bauder, 79, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Joanne P. (Chicchi) Bauder. He was born in Hellertown on June 14, 1937 to the late Orval H. and Florence A. (Henniger) Bauder. David was a 1955 graduate of Liberty High School and attended Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1960-1962, during the height of the Cold War, which included the Berlin Blockade and the Cuban Missile Crisis, earning numerous awards and citations for his service. David was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hellertown. After returning to civilian life, he was employed by Durkee Foods in Bethlehem before embarking on a highly successful career as a businessman, owning Saucon Valley Building Maintenance Company for more than 30 years, along with his wife. Since his retirement in 2001 he had enjoyed traveling and antiquing, but most of all spending time with his family. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved anything to do with history. With his son he visited 48 states over a period of seven years. He loved the Saucon Valley area and could not have imagined living anywhere else.

In addition to his loving wife of 49 years; children: Mary Joanne (Joseph) Altenbach of Lower Saucon Township, David Michael (Colleen) Bauder of Bethlehem; brother: Dean H. (Nina) of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren: Kyle J. Altenbach of Norristown, Autumn Wentz of Allentown. He was predeceased by his sisters: Betty L. Bauder, Carol A. Browning.
SERVICE
