In an email Friday about Northampton County road work scheduled for the week of July 18-22, PennDOT said motorists should expect delays in the area of Rt. 412 between Polk Valley Road and the Bucks County line for pothole patching on Thursday and Friday, July 21 and 22.

The work, however, began on Wednesday and resulted in significant traffic delays on Rt. 412 south through Hellertown borough and into Lower Saucon Township, where it is taking place south of Polk Valley Road near Meadows Road and the Creekside Marketplace shopping center.

In a photo submitted by a Saucon Source reader Wednesday morning, the scope of work appeared to encompass road resurfacing in addition to pothole patching.

PennDOT said in its July 15 the work will be conducted Thursday and Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., with flaggers moving traffic in both directions. Motorists should expect delays both days, PennDOT added.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday traffic was again moving freely in the area of Rt. 412 in Lower Saucon Township and Hellertown.
