The fencing on a metal bridge owned by the Hellertown Sportsmen Association’s was partially dismantled by parties unknown recently, and Lower Saucon Township Police are now on the case.

According to an association member, the damage to the bridge–which spans the Saucon Creek behind the club’s Meadows Road property–was discovered Monday.

Glenn Hoffert said the fencing will be replaced and a remote video camera will likely be installed to help monitor the area.

“If we catch the culprit, they will be prosecuted,” he said, adding that one theory is that the person who took down the fencing “didn’t like it impeding their fishing.”

Anyone with information about who may have dismantled the fencing on the bridge should call township police at 610-317-6110.
