A woman who struck a utility pole on W. Water Street in Hellertown in early October has been charged with DUI, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license following an investigation, borough police announced in a news release Monday.
Elisa Drew Bryan, 21, of Hellertown, was driving a vehicle that flipped on its side as a result of the 10:45 p.m. Oct. 4 crash, which closed the road for nearly 12 hours.
According to online Pennsylvania court records this isn’t Bryan’s first arrest for DUI.
In late November 2015, according to records, Bryan was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program after she was charged with DUI: Controlled Substance or Metabolite-1st Offense, Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana following an arrest in May 2015 in Lower Saucon Township.
The court records indicate Bryan was required to attend and successfully complete participation in the New Directions DUI Intervention Group, perform 25 hours of community service, surrender her driver’s license for 90 days and pay court costs and fines totaling $1,950.
Her ARD term length is not specified in the records.
Northampton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Emil Giordano was the sentencing judge in Bryan’s case, in which summary charges of careless driving and disregarding a single lane of travel were withdrawn as part of her plea agreement.
In another case dating from May 2015, Bryan pleaded guilty to a summary charge of driving at an unsafe speed in Hellertown.
