30 Chances to win

One meat raffle ticket gives you 30 chances to win!

It’s that time of year again; the time when the Saucon Valley Wrestling Club is pushing their annual meat raffle. The raffle is back again by popular demand! A $5 donation gets you 30 chances to win a variety of delicious prizes provided by Saylor’s & Company in Hellertown. The drawings are not until January, but you should get your tickets now! Tickets can be purchased at Saylor’s, 1105 Main Street.

Your donation not only gets you multiple chances at a carnivore special; it also helps Saucon Valley grapplers attend wrestling camps, clinics and tournaments. In addition, your donation helps provide the athletes with uniforms, meal money when they travel and more. Your participation is very much appreciated and will be of much help to the Saucon Valley Wrestling program, which is flying high and roaring to go for the 2016-2017 season.

The Panthers start their season hosting their own tournament on campus this Saturday. The tourney is geared towards providing tune-up competition for junior high and high school wrestlers before the official season begins next week.

Then, on Tuesday night, the SV high school gym will be rocking when Saucon Valley wrestling takes on a tough Pen Argyl Green Knight squad in their home opener. Junior high starts at 6 p.m. and the varsity squad will follow at 7 p.m.

Saucon Valley coach Chad Shirk and company will be looking for their 50th consecutive Colonial League victory. That’s right, Saucon Valley has not lost a Colonial League regular season wrestling match since Dec. 23rd, 2011. It’s ironic that the team Saucon Valley last lost to was…..Pen Argyl!

Shirk said, “We are excited to have the opportunity to open up our season against a well respected Colonial League opponent.”

Tuesday’s match against the Green Knights is also “Alumni Night.” Prior to the 7 p.m. varsity match, Saucon Wrestling alumni in attendance will be recognized. Immediately following the match, the fun will continue with an Alumni Social at the Hellertown American Legion. You’re not going to want to miss this opening night!

In addition to Saylor’s & Co., you can purchase them from any youth, junior high or high school wrestler. You can also pick them up at the tournament this weekend or at the match on Tuesday night. Whatever you decide to do, just make sure you are entered before the drawing Jan. 30!

Be sure to check out these powerful Panther wrestlers. Make your plans now to come watch them scuffle with Pen Argyl. If you do, the Source will be with you!
