Two men accused of stealing multiple packages from outside homes in Lower Saucon Township Feb. 3 have been apprehended, township police announced Wednesday.

According to police, Steven Alexis Ramsamy Figueroa, 20, of the 1100 block of Garfield Street, Bethlehem, and Tiare Gillins, 19, who is homeless, were in a vehicle stopped by Bethlehem Police Feb. 6 after a description of the vehicle suspected in the thefts was provided to that department.

The men were subsequently taken to the Lower Saucon Township police station “where they were interviewed and both admitted to the thefts,” police said.

Both men are charged with nine counts each of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, tampering with evidence and littering, police said.

The littering charge is because police say empty packages were found discarded following the thefts in Lower Saucon Township.

After being arraigned before District Judge Romig-Gainer Figueroa was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail and Gillins was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, the news release indicated.

According to authorities, the men are suspected of stealing packages in Freemansburg and Bethlehem in addition to the packages that were stolen on Woodfield Drive, Pleasant Drive and Majestic Overlook Drive.
