A combination of freezing rain and sleet could create slick travel conditions in the Saucon Valley area Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. for less than an inch of sleet and around a tenth of an inch of ice, which it says could make roads “treacherous” and produce isolated power outages.

The precipitation may begin as rain late this evening, but should become frozen by daybreak, according to the NWS advisory statement.

“A mixture of freezing rain and sleet is expected during the day on Sunday,” it said. “Precipitation may transition back to rain by the afternoon before tapering off during the early evening hours.”

After a relatively mild Saturday, Sunday’s high is only forecast to be 35.

According to a NWS hazardous weather outlook issued Saturday, a wind advisory may be issued for Monday, when northwest winds could gust 40 to 50 mph.
