As Saucon Valley Youth Basketball heads into Super Saturday, Feb. 25, the Lehigh Valley KneeHi Basketball League (boys travel league) honored six of Saucon Valley’s players with All-Star Game invitations this past weekend: Jack Robertson, Jake Klotz, Brendan Reed, Trevor Mikuta, Ben Pinckney and Isaac Nagle. The players were picked not just by their own coaches, but also coaches from around the league as outstanding youth basketball players. The All-Star Game served as a showcase of local Lehigh Valley talent. Congratulations to all the boys!

This week and weekend a number of Saucon Valley teams will be playing for their division championships. On Thursday night, the Girls 5/6 travel team, the Bobcats, will be playing against the Bethlehem Canes. The Bobcats are 8-0 and have defeated the Canes (6-2) two times already this season.

On Saturday, the Trojans (6-2), a team with now a shortage of stars and selfless players, will attempt to upset the undefeated Canes 5 (7-0) team for the 5/6 Boys Rec Championship. Saturday will also see two Saucon Valley teams compete for the 3/4 Boys Rec Championship. Earlier in the season, the Nittany Lions handed the Buckeyes their only loss, a defensive battle that was decided by one point. The Lions (8-0) have improved with each game, with their defense getting stronger and their passing game improving. The Buckeyes (7-1) are battle-hardened after having to defeat the number three and four teams in the division in their final two games to get here, and are looking to get even. It should be a great game!

Super Saturday and Thrilling Thursday aren’t just about awarding championships, as nearly every other team will play one final game of the season. Teams get to go out and face off against other teams with similar records, so games are sure to be competitive and exciting. Super Saturday always serves as the thrilling conclusion to the Saucon Valley Youth Basketball season, and it is sure to be a great day!
