A special baskeball game will be played on April Fool’s Day at Saucon Valley High School. And that’s no joke.

A poster advertising the game hangs inside Braveheart Highland Pub, 430 Main St., Hellertown. Tickets can be purchased at Braveheart, Jim Gardner State Farm Agency and Sure Shine Car Wash in Hellertown.

The benefit game for the Saucon Valley Parent-Teacher Organization (SVPTO) will be played at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 1 in the high school gym and will feature a Saucon Valley faculty, alumni and student team (“Team Spark”) supported by a faculty cheerleading squad known as the “Sparkettes” going up against the The World Famous Harlem Wizards. Doors will open at 1 p.m. The Spark name comes from the donation of t-shirts to the team by Spark Orthodontics of Bethlehem.

Tickets for the game are on sale Jim Gardner State Farm Agency, Braveheart Highland Pub and Sure Shine Car Wash, all in Hellertown. They are also for sale online at www.harlemwizards.com.

Tickets are $12 prior to the game and $15 at the door. There are also “Courtside Plus” tickets avaliable for $30 each.

A Courtside Plus ticket gets you a seat at center court–opposite where the emcee sits–in either the first row of bleachers or chairs. Ticket holders will receive a lanyard and badge and attend a 10-minute meet and greet with two players at 1:15 p.m. They’ll also receive a $15 discount on a jersey. Courtside tickets are NOT available online and only 50 will be sold.

Wiz Kid: Anyone who purchases a jersey for $45 is a Wiz Kid. The Wiz Kids warm up with the players 30 minutes before the game and will have a photo op with them. A ticket purchase is required to be a Wiz Kid, and when not participating in an activity with the players Wiz Kids will be seated in the stands.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a huge basket raffle at the game, and organizers are still looking for basket donations if any local businesses are interested. To donate or for more information, contact SVPTO co-presidents Lynn Beller and Susan Meier by calling the school district at 610-838-7001.

Playing for Team Spark will be Paige Histand, Matt Bernd, Mike Sakelarides, Thad Moyer, Jen Burkholder, Kelly Boushell, Julie Bechtold, Amanda Hicks,Kelly Calabrese, Sarah Roncolato, Kelly Zawodny, Stephanie Hand, Phil Russell, Todd Lipp, Phil Sams, Stevie Ochse (Saucon Valley alumna and girls soccer coach), Kellie King, Dan Burkholder, Ann DeAngelis, Brandon Holub (football quarterback and high school senior) and Josh Snead (football team member and high school senior).

The Sparkettes–who will perform at halftime–include Tami Coughlan, Steph Hamman, Deb Lacey, Holli Conrad, Lisa Benza, Jen Davison, Becky Harvey, Cheryl Kittle, Beth Ravier, Amanda Gercie, Lindsay Steiner and Lauren Souilliard.

The refereee will be assistant middle school principal Thomas Halcisak and the coaches will be elementary school principal Cindy Motter and associate elementary school principal Jim Deegan.
