Three Saucon Valley youth wrestlers advanced to the Pennsylvania state wrestling championships geared toward Pennsylvania youth wrestlers. It is the youth equivalent of the PIAA Wrestling Championships that take place in Hershey.
Aiden Grogg, Cole Hubert and Tyler Pfizenmayer competed at the PJW (Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling) Area XIV qualifier last Saturday and earned the right to advance. Area XIV represents youth wrestlers that live in Northampton, Monroe, Carbon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill counties. For youth wrestling purposes, Pennsylvania is divided into 14 areas that will provide their top two qualifiers. There will be 28 competitors in each bracket from across the state.
Pfizenmayer and Grogg both finished first in the regional qualifier while Hubert finished second. All three will participate in the PJW Championships this weekend at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes Barre. The tournament is broken into three divisions: 8 & Under, Ages 9-10, and Ages 11-12.
