A Hellertown man who drugged, molested and video recorded his abuse of a girl who was 7-8 years old at the time over a period of about two years was sentenced to 4 to 10 years in prison by Northampton County Judge Stephen Barratta and will also have to register as a sex offender for life, the Morning Call reported Monday.

Jeffery Todd Copeman, 49, was charged with abusing the girl–who now sleeps with a knife under her pillow–back in 2009, while serving time in federal prison–where his defense attorney said he completed sex offender treatment–for an unrelated conviction involving possession of child pornography, the newspaper reported.

Copeman pleaded guilty to indecent assault and endangering the welfare of a child in October.
