A 28-year-old Bethlehem Township man is charged with simple assault, harassment and terroristic threats, after Lower Saucon Township Police say he allegedly started an altercation with his brother and later threatened him over the phone.

In a news release issued Saturday, police said Brandon Hutson was “intoxicated” and an “unwanted guest” at his brother’s residence in the 3800 block of Rt. 378 Thursday afternoon when he allegedly had the altercation with him and broke things in the house.

Following an EMS evaluation, Hutson was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill and admitted, and police obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of simple assault and harassment, which they said they expected to serve him with upon his release.

On Friday, police said officers were again dispatched to the home on Rt. 378 for a report that Brandon had allegedly called his brother 20 times in an hour from a number that was traced back to the hospital.

“The caller was Brandon, who told the victim he was coming back to the house (to) burn the victim’s car and house down,” police said.

A Lower Saucon officer then contacted the hospital and Fountain Hill police were dispatched to detain Hutson until he could be taken into custody on the initial warrant, police said.

“While walking out, Brandon stated to (the) officer, ‘You just saved a life’ by arresting him,” police said.

For the alleged phone calls, Hutson has now also been charged with harassment and terroristic threats, they added.

Hutson was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 straight bail for each set of charges following a preliminary arraignment before District Judge Anthony Rapp, the news release stated.
