Saturday was a great day with a fantastic turnout for the 11th Annual Saucon Valley Girls Soccer Alumni Game.  Almost thirty alumni returned to take part in a fun-filled competition against the 2017 Saucon Valley JV/Varsity squad.  For the second year in a row, the Alumni seized the day with a victory.  The Saucon Valley Alumni got the best of the students by a 4-1 score.

Quanie Lightner (’11) gets ready to kickoff to Amanda Long (’12).

Sarah Savant (’16) found the back of the net to put the Alumni on the scoreboard first about half way through the opening period of play. Miki Bedics (’02) re-lived the days of glory about four minutes later.  Then, with about two minutes remaining in the first half, senior Maddie Guerreri pulled a couple moves and hit a laser to the top shelf of the goal for the students’ lone score.

Quanie Lightner (’11) stole the show in the second half.  Roughly fifteen minutes in, after some back and forth play, Lightner took a perfectly placed Megan Huston (’12) corner- kick directly out of the air and drilled it home to give the Alumni a 3-1 lead.

Senior Maddie Guerreri pulls the trigger as Megan Huston (’12) defends.

Lightner struck again with about ten minutes remaining.   Flashing her quick feet and demonstrating solid control, Lightner cruised through, and around, student defenders to score on a beautiful shot from about twenty yards out.  The Alums won 4-1.
