Allen ā€œwas recognized for her enthusiasm for mathematics, innovative methods for teaching, mentoring other teachers and for leadership in her school’s learning community,ā€ it stated.

Lisa Allen has taught math at Saucon Valley High School for 19 years, and also teaches part-time at Lehigh-Carbon Community College.

ā€œHer students participate in lessons that are dynamic, interactive, technology-based and problem-focused, utilizing a team approach for collaborative learning,ā€ the release stated.

One example of how Allen goes above and beyond in her role as teacher is that she organizes a mathematics tour of New York City and its Museum of Mathematics.

She is a past recipient of the Star Teacher Award for Teaching with Technology and has presented at conferences for the National Science Foundation, Lehigh University’s Technology Summit and PCTM.

Allen has also been recognized nationally as a 2016 recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), which is awarded to outstanding K-12 science and mathematics teachers from across the country.
