Carl F. ‘Sam’ Kemmerer, 83, of Hellertown, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at St. Luke’s Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, N.J.

Carl F. “Sam” Kemmerer, 83, of Hellertown, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at St. Luke’s Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, N.J. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Lane) Kemmerer. He was born in Hellertown on May 20, 1934 to the late Charles S. and Emily S. (Laubach) Kemmerer. Carl served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Carl worked at Keystone Food Products, Palmer Township, as a machine mechanic for 17 years until his retirement. He had also worked part-time for Northampton County Public Works for 10 years. Carl was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown, and Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 62 years last July; children: Henry C. (Terry A.) of Lower Saucon Township, Kandy Lane Ruggiero of Bethlehem, Carl F. II and fiancé Robin A. Hanni of Lower Saucon Township; siblings: Verda I. Zaparzony of Bethlehem, Arland V. (Martha B.) of Hellertown, Gloria Eisenhart of Hellertown, Lloyd A. (Betty) of Bethlehem, Marlene M. Groff of Bethlehem, Lois Brown of Bethlehem; grandchildren: Jeremiah J. Duffy, Jamie Lane Heller, Nicole L. Kemmerer, Kevin L. Kemmerer, Hailey M. Kemmerer, Seth C. Kemmerer; great-grandchildren: Colton Lane Duffy, Kenley G. Duffy, Halle N. Shannon, Mason J. Kemmerer. He was predeceased by siblings: Richard and Henry Kemmerer, Carolyn Bachman; and son-in-law: Michael A. Ruggiero.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 1 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown.
