The Panther 90’s, 110’s and 130’s were in action this weekend. Flags had a bye-week. The Panther 130’s traveled to Catasauqua on Saturday to take on the Northwestern Lehigh Gold while the 110’s made the trip to Pen Argyl on Sunday to do battle with the Bangor Slaters Maroon team. The 90’s played a scrimmage prior to the Saucon Valley varsity game at Wilson. It was Week 8 of the Colonial League Youth Football League.
This season the Saucon Valley youth coaches are, once again, recognizing the efforts of their boys and girls as they participate in the football and cheerleading experience. Saucon Source is proud to be partnering with the coaches to share the kids’ successes this season with you!
Football recognizes a player, or players, every week with a “Panther Pride” award. The cheer coaches choose deserving girls and identify them with a “Panther Spirit” award.
The recognition of the kids can relate to anything from effort or enthusiasm to the acknowledgement of a great performance. Maybe the award will be for being a good teammate or volunteering their time. It can be for any number of positive things!
The awards are meant to be a fun and special way for the coaches to show their appreciation for the hard work and dedication the boys and girls invest in the football and cheer programs.
Here we go with this week’s awards!
90 POUNDERS
Game Summary: This week the 90-pound team had another bye so they arranged to play a practice game with the Wilson Vikings prior to the Saucon Valley v. Wilson varsity football game. It was a great day for the Little Panthers. Grayson Schmell and Noah Hubert each scored two touchdowns!
- Panther Pride: Noah Hubert and Grayson Schmell
110 POUNDERS
Game Summary: The 110’s hit the road on Sunday and did not disappoint. The Little Panthers pounced on the Slaters early and did not let up. Touchdowns were scored by four different players. Andrew Gilbert, Aidan Grogg, Jackson Albert and Shane Kerosetz all found the Saucon Valley endzone! The Panther defense was lights out all game long. The stingy Panthers pitched a shutout and only allowed one first down!
- Panther Pride: A TOTAL TEAM EFFORT!
130 POUNDERS
Game Summary: The Panther 130’s stumbled again this week against the once beaten Northwestern Gold squad. At one point the Panthers scratched their way back into the game when Connor Nicholas scored a 40-yard touchdown on a “wingback counter trap”. As hard as the Panthers tried, however, they just couldn’t put it all together against the Tigers. The coaching staff awarded this week’s “Panther Pride Award” to Nicholas for his efforts on both sides of the ball and Omar Torres for his consistent line.
- Panther Pride: Connor Nicholas and Omar Torres
