KABOOM!

Things have been going bump in the night in Springfield Township and other parts of Upper Bucks County, and the Springfield Township Police Department and other law enforcement authorities want to know why.

In a message posted on the department’s Crimewatch page Tuesday, the Springfield Police Department said the loud explosions–which have also reportedly been heard in parts of Lehigh County–have been heard by local residents.

“Multiple reports of loud explosions have been fielded by our police department as well as multiple other jurisdictions,” police said, adding that “many other law enforcement agencies (local, state, federal) are involved (in the investigation) due to the vast area from which the complaints are being reported and the apparent size of the explosions.”

Police said the most recent explosion was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Anyone who hears a loud explosion and can pinpoint its origin or at least the direction from which it sounds like it is coming from is asked to contact police immediately.

“It is imperative that we get the information as soon as possible in order to track these events,” Springfield police said.

“If anyone notices anything unusual along the road, on their property, or elsewhere that seems to be from an explosive device, DO NOT investigate it yourself,” they cautioned. “Call police immediately and let us investigate. If you hear any loud explosions that seem to be close by, please take (a) mental inventory as to vehicles or people that are passing by and REPORT IT TO POLICE!”

Tell Us: Have you recently heard any loud explosions in the area of Springfield Township? Do you have any theories about what or who may be causing them?
