Thomas A. ‘Uncle Tom’ Snyder, 87, formerly of Hellertown, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richlandtown. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.

Thomas A. “Uncle Tom” Snyder, 87, formerly of Hellertown, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richlandtown.Tom Snyder Obituary He was born in Palmerton on Oct. 22, 1931 to the late Clayton and Minnie (Cunfer) Snyder. Tom served our country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an accountant for the PB&NE Railroad at the Bethlehem Steel for 34 years until retiring. Uncle Tom was a faithful member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown, serving on the Board of Christian Education, teaching for 44 years as a Sunday School teacher and after retiring at the Steel, volunteering his time and talents at the church from 1991 to 2014. Tom was a dedicated and loving grandfather to his three granddaughters.

SURVIVORS

Children: Terry L. (Rebecca) and Sandra K. (James) Panick, all of Hellertown; siblings: Frances Deganich, Rodney (Shirley) Snyder, all of Lehighton; Colin (Susan) Snyder of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren: Emily (Tim) Mann, Sarah (Chase) Mitchell and Rachel Panick. He was predeceased by siblings: June Bubick, Jeanette Hartman, Betty Sterling and Winfield Snyder.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at First United Church of Christ, 501 Northampton St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Military honors will be accorded by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at  www.heintzelmancares.com.  Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, 501 Northampton St., Hellertown, PA 18055.
