Coming into Saturday’s championship game played at Saucon Valley Middle School, the Thunder were undefeated with a 16-0 record. Their opponent, the Bethlehem Canes, were 15-2. One of the Canes losses was to the Thunder by a 47-23 score early in the season on Dec. 15. Any ideas of a repeat performance were quickly squashed. Both teams went toe to toe in a very competitive contest early on.
Adam Clark (15 pts.) and Jack Robertson (13 pts.) paced the Thunder, but it wasn’t quite enough firepower to overcome the Canes red-hot shooting. Thunder trailed 27-25 at halftime, but went cold and fell into a little scoring drought to start the second half. Making up a fifteen point deficit proved too much. It was just too big a hole to climb out. The Canes defeated the Thunder 54-40
“This group of 6th graders worked hard every time they stepped into the gym. And, while we came up a game short of the title, these boys had one of the best seasons in recent history. They all got better as individuals, played as a team and picked each other up when things were not going well. I have had the pleasure of coaching a lot of youth teams, but this group and this season, has been, by far, my favorite.”
Saucon Valley Thunder Head Coach, Reggie Robertson

Great job Thunder, the Source is with you!
