NCC to Host Pop-Up Market, First Lehigh Valley Food Conference

Celebrate spring at Northampton Community College (NCC), which will host the Lehigh Valley’s first food conference on Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the college, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem. A pop-up farmers’ market will also be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Celebrate spring at Northampton Community College (NCC), which will host the Lehigh Valley’s first food conference on Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the college, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township.

Visitors will be able to buy plants for their gardens, food and crafts at a related pop-up farmers’ market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NCC Summer Theatre will host mini live performances throughout the day.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

10 a.m. Food Systems Panel & Market Opens

11 a.m. State of the LV Food Economy, facilitated by Buy Fresh Buy Local-GLV

1 p.m. Local Food Scholars Panel

2 p.m. Food Co-Op Experts Panel

3 p.m. Community Roundtable & Market Closes

4 p.m. Talk by Jon Steinman, author of Grocery Story

5 p.m. Book-signing by Steinman

Admission to the market is free. Registration for the event is $5, which includes a $5 voucher for the farmers’ market.

The conference is being coordinated by The Farm Market at NCC, The NCC Summer Theater, Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Greater Lehigh Valley and The Bethlehem Food Co-op.
