If you would like to see stars, the Northampton County Parks and Recreation Division will host a stargazing event on Friday, May 17. The meetup will take place in the wide-open turf grass on the west side of Louise W. Moore Park, which is located at 151 Country Club Road, Easton. Attendees should park in the West lot.

The stargazing event will be led by Dr. David Buckley, a professor of physics who is also Resident Astronomer at East Stroudsburg University.

Attendees will enjoy telescopic views of the waxing gibbous moon, and depending on the weather, may also be able to see the double star Algieba, the Beehive Cluster and the Hercules Globular Cluster of stars. The constellations Leo, Bootes, Hercules and the Big Dipper will be identified, as will the North Star.

The event is recommended for adults and children 6 years and older. Guests should dress appropriately for the weather and bring a lawn chair or blanket, binoculars and a flashlight.

The program is free, but registration is required. To register, click here.

Registered participants will be notified on the afternoon of May 17 if the event is canceled due to weather or unfavorable sky conditions.
