Kanta Anand (1934 – 2025)
Kanta Anand (Ammi/Ums), 90, of Allentown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2025. Born in India, she was the daughter of late M.L. Puri and Shanti Puri. She is survived by her husband Dilbagh Anand, to whom she was married for 70+ years. They led a harmonious, peaceful and joyful life, and raised successful children and grandchildren by imparting their values in them. She was an inspiration to so many around her. Her enthusiasm, decency and positive attitude were infectious. She was a beacon of love, care and support, and a huge giver and philanthropist. Early on in her life she started teaching knitting, sewing and cooking in India and won awards. She was a passionate chef, teaching her skills to many in Calcutta, India and the Washington, D.C., area. Even at 90 she would whip up new food recipes every week. She leaves a big void in our hearts; she was larger than life.
