Hellertown Borough Council Vice President Theresa Fadem announced her candidacy for Northampton County Council last week in a news release that highlighted her commitment to sustainable growth, affordable housing and social services. With over 20 years of experience in community management, budget preparation and capital improvement planning, Fadem said she is well-prepared to serve the community at the county level.

A Democrat first elected to council in 2021, Fadem cited her service on local committees–including as a representative to the Saucon Rail Trail Oversight Commission and on the Hellertown Borough Climate Action Committee–as evidence of her dedication to her community. Her committee work has focused on enacting climate action initiatives, ensuring affordable housing access and improving local services.

“Northampton County is a place full of potential, and I’m running for County Council to ensure that our growth is both sustainable and equitable,” Fadem said in a news release. “With my experience in community leadership, my passion for climate action and my commitment to social equity, I will work to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to thrive.”

Fadem said she leads by problem-solving. She has professional experience managing budgets, negotiating contracts and implementing community projects, and as a County Council member, she said she will focus on promoting environmental sustainability, expanding access to affordable housing and social services, ensuring responsible development and supporting infrastructure projects that improve residents’ quality of life.

Fadem expressed confidence in local government’s ability to effect positive change and pledged to listen to the needs of Northampton County residents if elected to County Council.
