Truck Driver Killed in Crash on I-78 in Upper Saucon

A New Jersey truck driver died Wednesday following a crash on I-78 in Upper Saucon Township.

Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio said 48-year-old Timothy O. Atanda, of Newark, was eastbound near mile marker 60.7 when the tractor-trailer he was driving veered off the roadway and overturned at around 2 p.m.

Buglio said an autopsy determined that Atanda–who was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest–died from blunt force injuries. He ruled his death accidental.

In addition to the coroner’s office, Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville are investigating the crash, Buglio’s office said.
