The SVSD has been recognized in the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association’s 2024 Excellence in Communications Contest. With over 200 entries judged this year, SVSD earned two Awards of Excellence and one Honorable Mention. The awards are a testament to the passion, dedication and support that students, staff and community show for SVSD every day.

SVSD COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: The district’s 2025-2028 Comprehensive Plan is currently posted on the SVSD website. The public is encouraged to review the plan and, if interested, provide feedback to comp-plan@svpanthers.org. The district thanks all of the members of its Comprehensive Plan committees for their work developing the 2025-2028 Comprehensive Plan.

SPRING BREAK: All SVSD schools will be closed for Spring Break from April 17 through April 21.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN: Please visit SVSD’s Kindergarten registration page for information and instructions. Welcome Saucon Valley Class of 2038!

ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH: March is National Athletic Training Month and Saucon Valley is recognizing the athletic trainers and medical staff who help keep its student athletes healthy and performing at their best. A huge thank you goes to Anthony Zrillo, Jaimie Constable and Dom Valentin for their commitment to treating and preventing injuries.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL: The district is grateful to Freedom High School for recently hosting a Special Olympics Basketball event which several Saucon Valley students attended.

PIAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENTS: Four Saucon Valley athletes brought home PIAA medals in championships the last few weeks. Julia Cort earned two swimming bronze medals at Bucknell University, setting school records in the 50 Free & 100 Free. In wrestling, Carter Chunko earned silver in Hershey, while Mack Santoro and Jared Rohn finished 8th. The Boys Basketball team advanced to the second round of the PIAA Championship Tournament after defeating District XII’s Dobbins Tech in Philadelphia. The team completed the season (22-7) and made their third straight PIAA appearance.

SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY: The Saucon Valley High School Scholarship Committee is seeking community member and business sponsors. If you or a business would be interested in sponsoring a scholarship for graduating seniors, please contact Jeremy Kittek at Jeremy.Kittek@svpanthers.org.

MONTHLY PRESENTATION BY DR. JARROD SPENCER: April’s Mind of An Athlete theme is “Depression: Managing Hurt Held Inward.” All parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend the presentation in the SVHS auditorium on Wednesday, April 23: Athletes 2:30 p.m., Coaches 5:30 p.m., Parents/Community 6:30 p.m.

COMMENCEMENT 2025 DATE ANNOUNCED: The SVHS Senior Class of 2025 will have its Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m., at the district’s Montford E. Illick Stadium. The rain date is Saturday, June 7.

MUSIC & THEATRE

SVHS SPRING SHOW: Saucon Valley HS is proud to present The Addams Family School Edition. Show Dates: Thursday, April 10, 2025 – 6:30 p.m. • Friday, April 11, 2025 – 6:30 p.m. • Saturday, April 12, 2025 – 6:30 p.m. • Sunday, April 13, 2025 – 2 p.m. Performances take place in the High School Auditorium (video recording the show is strictly prohibited). Discounted tickets that allow buyers to choose their seats may be purchased online in advance. Full price tickets will be sold at the door.

SVHS STUDENT STATE CHOIR QUALIFIER: Congratulations to Ryan Pakzad, 2025 PMEA State Choir Qualifier. Ryan is now among the top singers in the state.

SENIOR CITIZEN PROPERTY TAX/RENT REBATE DEADLINE: The Senior Citizen property tax/rent rebate deadline for the 2023-2024 tax year is April 30, 2025. If you have any questions, please contact the SVSD business office at 610-838-7001 and select the option for the business office.

SVES PTO FAMILY FUN NIGHT: The PTO is hosting a Family Fun Night on Friday, May 2. This exciting event brings the school community together with games, food and fun. The PTO needs local businesses’ support to make the event amazing. By sponsoring or donating you can have a direct impact on the students and school, promote your business to hundreds of local families and enjoy visibility on signage, social media and more.
