Terri Fadem resigned from her seat on Hellertown Borough Council, where she was serving as council vice president, at last week’s council meeting. Her resignation was effective immediately.

“Serving on council has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Fadem, who was elected to the seat in 2021. “It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated colleagues and to advocate for the needs and the well-being of the residents of this incredible town.”

Later in the meeting, Fadem was approved as the borough’s new zoning and codes enforcement officer at an annual salary of $65,000.

“In the effort to be transparent, Terri knew this position was open for a very long time,” council president Tom Rieger said. “It was posted for close to five or six months or longer, since Kris Russo (who was previously in the position) moved on to another community.”

“Terri applied and went through a vigorous interview process. Being that she was a sitting member of council at the time, (borough manager) Cathy (Hartranft) asked one of her colleagues in the municipal manager realm to interview the top three candidates, and that independent party selected Terri as the best fit for the position,” he added.

In addition to her new position with the borough, Fadem is also running for a seat on Northampton County Council. She finished second among Democratic candidates on the primary election ballot earlier this month.

“Hellertown is more than just where I live; it is my community, my home and a place I care about deeply,” Fadem said. “I want to extend my sincerest thanks to the Borough of Hellertown residents for entrusting me with this responsibility. I will always be proud of the work we have done together and will continue to support Hellertown in every way I can.”

Lynley Solt was approved as council’s new vice president. As for the seat left vacant by Fadem, the borough is seeking applicants–who must be registered to vote and residents of the borough–to fill the short-term vacancy. According to a borough Facebook post, “this person will be appointed to fill the remaining term to Dec, 31, 2025.”
