Fishing Tournament to Be Held April 11

An annual springtime rite of passage in Hellertown is scheduled for Saturday, April 11.

That’s when the Saucon Valley Community Center’s ninth annual Phyllis Schnaible and George Klotz Fishing Tournament will be held at the grist mill pond near Walnut Street.

The children’s tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the adult tournament will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the center at 610-838-0722.

According to a post on the center’s Facebook page, the pond has been stocked with 425 large trout and 15 lunkers for the tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament support the community center, which is also currently planning its second annual ice cream festival.

The ice cream festival will be held Saturday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
