Coroner IDs Pedestrian Killed on Rt. 309 in Coopersburg

Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio has released the name of the 35-year-old pedestrian who was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer over the weekend in Coopersburg.

Buglio said David Andrew Mayers of Lower Macungie Township died from blunt force injuries due to the accident, which happened in the 300 block of S. Third St. (Rt. 309) at approximately 3:25 a.m. Sunday.

Mayers was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner about an hour later.

Breaking news coverage of the accident by 6ABC Action News included aerial video and photos of the scene which show the truck stopped facing northbound near the intersection of Rt. 309 and Charles Street, which is at the south end of town.

Buglio said the Coopersburg Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office and the Lehigh County Crash Team are investigating the accident.
