A Lower Saucon Township vineyard’s tasting room will close permanently later this month.

Black River Farms Vineyard & Winery recently announced on Facebook that its Black River Road tasting room’s last day of operation will be Sunday, Aug. 30.

The tasting room is also used for tastings of Wardog Spirits, a distillery that is owned by vineyard owners Andy and Kris Warner.

“Over the past 17 years, our garden/vineyard hobby has evolved into a business far greater than we could have imagined,” the Warners said in an Aug. 11 post on the Black River Farms Facebook page. “We have been blessed to spend this time surrounded by beautiful grapevines, flowers, vegetables and wildlife, but more importantly, by an amazing team and guests that have become our BRF Family.”

“While we are retiring from the wine and spirits business, we appreciate every fond memory, and we will miss you!” they said. “In our next chapter, we will continue to own and manage the BRF farm property but will focus on enjoying more time in the company of family and friends, with a bit of travel sprinkled in.”

Many customers and friends of the Warners shared their gratitude and well wishes in hundreds of comments on the post, which as of Aug. 14 had received more than 540 reactions and approximately 50 shares.

Located at 2472 Black River Road, Bethlehem, Black River Farms was established in 2009 and features more than nine acres of vineyards that consist of eight varieties of grapes.

The Black River Farms tasting room is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., with wine flights available for $9 and spirit flights for $10. Food is also available for purchase from various purveyors, and live music will be performed on select dates before the business closes, according to the events calendar on the Black River Farms website.
