New Health Center to Host ‘Wellness Wednesdays’ in September

A new health care facility in Hellertown is now open, and will be hosting free health screenings and other events throughout September.

St. Luke’s Health Center at 110 Main Street opened Monday with a ribbon-cutting that was attended by health network and local officials.

Located in a 13,000 square foot building that previously housed a Rite Aid, the health center’s opening culminated three months of renovations that included construction of new handicapped access ramps, upgraded exterior and parking lot lighting, and new landscaping.

“This new facility represents an important step forward in how we serve the Hellertown and Saucon Valley communities,” said Wendy Lazo, president of St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, in a news release about the opening. “By building on the trusted care already available here and adding new services, we’re making it easier for patients and families to access the care they need close to home.”

St. Luke’s Health Center in Hellertown is the new home of Saucon Valley Family Practice, which was previously located on Front Street, a couple of blocks north of where the new facility is located.

The news release noted that the primary care provider’s new office is larger and features 16 exam rooms, compared with the 11 exam rooms that were available in the old building.

“The Health Center offers a full array of services: Care Now walk-in services for non-emergent illnesses, walk-in X-ray services (and) walk-in lab services,” it said. “Additionally, the Occupational Medicine program will treat workers’ compensation injuries, workplace-acquired illnesses and perform physical exams and screenings.”

To help introduce the various services to the community, St. Luke’s Health Center in Hellertown will be hosting Wellness Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon each Wednesday in September, with the following events planned to include health screenings, resources, snacks and giveaways.
